When I first moved out here from California I had a 98' TT. My first Supra was an 85' non turbo all engine, then an 86 singleT,then an 88' single. Love em. Miss em.

Using a two step? Is that some sort of slang for sequential turbochargers?

no a 2 step is a system used to build boost and load the engine while the car is sitting still. Mainly this is a function available from aftermarket stand alone ecu's. Just a form of launch control really.

Well I'll be damned, I think I went 2 for 2!

This is Nick, I've got your old car's twin but with black wheels. I was up at autozone all the time when you and Dunkle worked together.

Yeppp, thas me. And yet another coincidence. Lollll. I actually would have offered you some type of firearm as a trade but I just dont have anything I want to part with right now as my stock hasnt been replinished from a bunch of recent selling, plus I have over 30 guitars anyways. If you bought that thing brand new then disregard this statement, but,it sounded in the ad like one I modded and then put out for sale a year or so ago, which is the only reason I was inquiring about it. I dont keep some of them for very long. At one time I had an endorsement for D'addario strings but never could get an ESP-LTD endorsement- even though they have sent some of their guitars.

It's no big deal, if it sells I'm going to put the cash towards an AR but if I end up keeping it I won't be heartbroken or anything

I traded a buddy of mine for it about 8 months ago, but he bought it used with the mods it has now a few months before that. I actually went with him to pick it up, do ya live in Chelsea by any chance? I'm pretty sure we picked it up in Chelsea, but it's been awhile!

If it was originally yours, you had it set up perfect man. It plays great and goes weeks on end without ever going out of tune. . .I wish I could say that about the SG I have too, its a nice guitar for sure but the EC-400 was definitely a much better deal if you're not stuck on having a name like Gibson imo (the SG needs set up for some lighter strings, but even after that I doubt it'll be as worry-free as that LTD).

If it turns out that we've met before then this is just too many coincidences for one day, epecially with me running into both of you in the same thread. When I saw spooln-rex's info that made me think I knew him and then I saw your username (which I thought I recognized from the email), I almost didn't say anything because I was halfway convinced I was just going crazy

I think it was because it has all of my trademark mods. You probably got it from whoever I sold it to. With 30 or more guitars laying around right now and probably that many or more backups that Ive bought, modded, played live and toured with, then sold after a tour was over-theres no doubt I have a bunch of them floating around out there.

I have a hired tech for one of my bands who does some of the more intricate work but I think I do better setup and mod jobs than him. He's also my rythym guitarist. I buy the gear to do all of the mods in bulk- those EC-400s come stock with EMG 81/60 sets but I like an 81/81 set in all of my guitars to even out the tones;I always take the stock Grover tuners off on the cheaper ESP-LTDs and install the better locking type tuners that come stock on the more expensive ESPs because they stay in tune way better than the stock rotomatics;I always install Schaller straplocks so all of my on stage guitars can be used with just one type of strap;and I will usually put the LTDs in TKL cases instead of LTD or ESP cases because of getting knocked around while out touring. And I give the guy buying the guitar all of the original parts in a ziplock baggie.

Basically I like to use the cheaper ESP-LTD models as backups to my more expensive ESP models, but when I get done modding and setting them up right they usually play just as good and sometimes better than a guitar worth 3 times as much. After a season of live playing and touring or a band change then I always change out my live/touring guitars and if guitars dont go on the pile then they go out the door. Usually the originals go on the pile and the backups go out the door- like the EC-400 you have. But theyre always still in great shape when I sell them and they play like butter. In the last 5-6 years of live touring I know what year I toured by what guitars I used that year. This past season that just ended the end of this summer I used 2 vintage 87' Charvel Model Two's and 2 backups,an ESP Viper, and a couple of LTD Viper 400s as backups. The year before was my ESP year- an ESP Eclipse and an M series w/LTD EC and MHs as backups. I used all Ibanez's the year before that, all Jacksons the year before that, etcetc. My collectible vintage older guitars like my 74' Gibson Les Paul and my custom shop Strats never get gigged. I will use them when recording only. Theyre just not good live playing/touring and gigging guitars. They cant take the road abuse and actually dont stay in tune very well for guitars worth thousands of dollars. This year I'm using all Schecters and a new custom built Agile Interceptor 7 string. Sold the 2 backup Charvels- one went to a gigging guitarist in a local Tulsa area metal band and the other went to a guitarist in a Tulsa based Grammy nominated international touring/recording Christian metal band. I dont need to drop his name if you know Christian metal. I'm keeping the 2 vintage 87' Charvels and the ESP Viper and just sold the 2 LTD Vipers on EBay.

Now. If only I could find the money so I can find another good used Supra to buy to play around with. I miss my 98'. The only thing I didnt like was having the twin turbo versus the single. I think I like one big turbo better than 2 smaller. Plus,my wife just got tired of all of the money I was always spending on the car. She didnt understand the 'hobby' and how it put a smile on my face. Hard to justify little things like carbon fiber hoods when your wife is bitching about budgets and cutting back because of the economy. Blehhhh. I need to get some of that stimulus money for a funcar fund...

When we first moved here and I still had Cali tags on my 98' for a couple of months and I swear I couldnt go any where without a police escort it seemed.

I even had one OHP cruiser one afternoon follow me all the way east down the BA right on my azz. He would get up close, then fall back, over and over. Just prodding me to do something traffic related I think. I didnt though. Went the speed limit, used my signals, selt belt was on. Then when I exited off of the BA onto Hwy 51 so did he. We went all the way east on 51all the way to Coweta. With this guy still on my azz. Then when I turned off of 51 into my residential area so did the trooper. Zigzagged thru the neighborhood. I went like 15mph all thru the neighborhood just barely limping along with this cop right on my azz. When I pulled into my driveway he just went by realll slow and then went down to the corner and left. I'm not crazy and it was not imaginary or paranoia, it was real. Like he didnt have anything better to do? I have an OHP neighbor on the same block but he was home.

Same thing happened to me in Missouri on my way thru Kansas City going up to Des Moines on I-35 during my once every other week trips to my business there, and in Iowa. Missouri HP followed me constantly on my way thru the state. Once I was pulled over on I-35 just north and outside KC for speeding and the cop was questioning me about why I was there and where I was going, what I did for a living, etcetc. (My radar detector didnt even ping. He later told my girlfriend to tell me not to rely on that. He used a stopwatch from up above me on an overpass...). Then he calls for a backup with a drug dog and asked me if I mind if they look around in my car. I had nothing to hide. When the backup got there they proceeded to totally strip my car while me and my girlfriend stood out on the side of the road. Didnt find anything cause I didnt have anything but an ice chest full of redbull and waters. They did put all of my stuff back thankfully.

Funny, when I finally got my Oklahoma tags on it all stopped. I know the whole time I was getting MO'd. I'm white, head shaved, tattoed about 70% of my body,Cali tags, fast car, so I know the routine. Whats a tattooed dude in a twinturbo Supra with California tags doing around here? He cant be up to anything good. Whatthe****ever. Ethnic groups would have called it 'profiling' if a member of one of their groups had experienced this 'light harrassment'. I just shook it off.

Now,I have a big white crewcab Chevy pickup w/350 smallblock, headers, etc and I blend right in with the good ol boys.

I miss that Supra tho. Its on my bubble to get another one some day. Ive had the MKII,III,IV. I thought a MKV was coming out in 2006 but it didnt happen. Now theyre saying a MKV is not planned for any time soon, but then I also have read that there could be one out in 2011 with either a V-8 or a 10. Maybe I can have the 50-70k saved by then. A guy can dream...
