I've got a .338 WM that for some reason I want to convert to a RUM. It's a Rem 700 and I do reload.
Ya'll think its worth the hassel?
Is the process as simple a reaming out the chamber?
The idea would simply be for the fun/wow factor and maybe hunt out west for chits and grins.
Anyway, if it's a simple deal who in the BA/Tulsa are would be the place take it to have this done?

The Edge was actually my first idea, even more cool factor. That's til I saw the price for a good set of dies and avalibility of brass or having to neck down .300RUM for not much if any in gains for what I would use it for.

Id like to do this, just wanting to make sure of the process and who would be good choice to do it.

I'm not to recoil sensitive, I actually have a sick fascination with getting the chit knocked out of me... Puts a perma-smile on my face :werd:
I've shot an unbroke .338RUM and it was fun, mine has a brake already so it should be a bit tamer.

If you want "cool-wow" rifle - build one.

If you want economical "use" rifle - buy an over-the-counter 30-06 ... because realistically that's as big of a case as you need on this continent.

Come on Mo don't rain on parade :crying:

I already have a slighty custom savage 06, a .308 and a .264WM plus a .300WM I load for my buddy that get to play with all the time.
I figured I got the small bore stuff cover. Seeing how I picked up a medium bore gun I might as well go big right :)
Id love to build a sweet custom setup but I just can't justify the $ on it right now. Reaming this one out to a RUM just seemed like the most practical way to have a little fun.

You can use 338 RUM dies with a bit of know-how for the Edge.

Rifle being a Remington - I would leave it alone - it is not a simple or cheap process for proper re-chambering/head-spacing one. Yes, it cool to say that now you have bigger than 338WM cartridge - but it's not the biggest; and surely the shooter can't tell how big of a semi just plowed in his shoulder ... if you know what I mean.

With that said - why not save-up for the ultimate wow-factor - 50BMG!
