Dubs, are you planning on using subsonic for the hunt, or the fast stuff?

Being as the first shot from that cold barrel is the only one that matters, I guess it doesn't matter!

I would suggest super sonic for hunting. Flatter trajectory and I believe the bullets behave more predictably terminally. If you look at the chart I posted the heavy bullets are lacking in the energy department. Not saying that is super important, but at 500 lb ft it's pretty low compared to a lot of other stuff. May not deliver the penetration you'd desire on a deer or other similar sized game.

Standard 55gr 5.56 round has double the muzzle energy of the SS 300blk loads.

I'd load some 125gn to the 2200fps - just what it was designed for: see if accuracy is there.

From what I understand, quiet subsonics was a side effect of the 300 BLK not the intent.

Yeah but not the 300 Whisper which is what the rifle is really built as. I can shoot either 300 blk factory ammo or 300 whisper. the blk is supposed to not be able to be backwards compatible but I am not sure as it doesn't affect me.

Bad thing for Dubs is the 9mm suppressor option won't let you shoot the supersonic loads suppressed.

This is soooo True, Dustin have you heard of a new 30 cal can coming to market fully titanium by some smaller company? someone was telling me about it but I don't remember the name.

Subs, that is why I went with lehigh defense bullets posted above. penetration is not a worry

I'd really want to see what the G1 (preferably G7) bc is on those. I bet the G1 is well below .608 of the 220SMK.

The 220smk has almost a foot of drop from 100 to 150. The trajectory of that load is going to make proper range estimation imperative when shooting at game.

Around 10" of penetration in gel? That's not enough.

Here are the bullets I am going to be loading up.

Guaranteed to expand at subsonic speeds. I know it is not going to be a one hole gun. I would almost bet I can get repeatable MOA out of it though. I will continue to test and post results for you boys.

$1.50 a bullet ... just a bullet ... I don't even know what to compare it to, even 338 Lapua is half price.

To each his own I guess.

I mean, it's a beautiful rifle in a cool cartridge. Do you ever stop and make sure that you are not building Goldberg device...

non expanding bullets pass all the way through. For hunting you want the bullet to disperse all its energy before passing through the animal. or at least most of its energy before passing through the animal. and here is the G1 BC for the maximum expansion bullet BC (G1): .638 http://lehighdefense.mybigcommerce.com/308-maximum-expansion-200gr-subsonic-bullet/

LOL yes, it is an expensive bullet but for hunting deer it does not phase me in the least to pay $2.00 a round. hmmmm what is good .308 or .300 magnum hunting ammo cost????? about $2.00-$2.50 I am not going to be plinking with the lehigh bullets. Also I can rebarrel that gun for about $200-300 and do it myself. sell the barrel and bolt and go with an SA cartridge I want. that is the nice thing about the savage actions.
