Do you folks shooting milsurps at a range get comments on your firearms from other shooters? I go to Red Castle, but rarely get any comments or even people coming over to look whenever I shoot a M1 Garand, K31, M96, or M/41B. The last time someone came over was when I had a M1D Garand and a M1903A4 sitting side by side on the bench. The one fellow, part of a group of 50/60-something gentlemen, had to inform all the others what I had, and even then, he was the only one to take a closer look. I offered to let the group take a couple shots, but only the one fellow accepted the offer with the 03A4. If I'm at the range and I notice someone shooting a milsurp, I like to go check it out. Otherwise, people just don't seem to notice or care. Is that your typical experience?

At Red Castle its a little different from other places. Theres 2300 members and the majority have been members 20,30,40+ years. They went thru the milsurp craze of the 80's + 90's owned and shot that stuff and so it doesn't turn many heads.
Go to USSA or Happy Hollow or some other place with a younger crowd and it's like "WOW! Whats that? I never seen anything like that "

Makes sense, and I suspected something like that was coming into play. I know they have milsurp matches at RC, so the folks there might be jaded when it comes to those firearms. I'd join USSA especially since it's 20 minutes closer to my place, but they don't have 500+ yard ranges or allow FA plinking, and their membership fees are higher.

Oh well, I'll just go on shooting my milsurps :D

If I was at a range and saw milsurps I would have to go check it out. And if asked to fire it I would accept. I love to shoot and check out all guns.

Perhaps those around you are just not as corgial as you and afraid to come up and talk to you. They may feel they are interupting you.
