I got my CMP Garand from my wife as my retirement gift when I retired from the US Army. Went and picked her up from the South Store in Anniston. If you haven't been there, you really need to go. Its worth the drive!

...one of my springfields has a hra trigger assy...just let me know if you ever wanna swap since i would rather have a springfield trigger assy and we both live in BA also...anyway congrats and have fun!!!!

And the swapping begins... lol Just make sure the parts would be correct for each of your rifles; easier to do with an HRA since it would be all post-war with just a couple variations, than with a SA that spanned 25+ years with a bunch of revision codes. I received an HRA from the CMP a few weeks ago, and have already swapped an all-SA trigger group with a buddy for an all-HRA group so that my HRA is now nearly all correct.

As LDP said above, a trip to either the South Store (in Alabama) or the North Store (in Ohio) would be an eye-opener, though maybe not so much these days since most of their M1's are going straight to mail-orders. The racks in the stores aren't as full as they were a year ago. Still, well worth a stop if you're in the area, or even a road trip for the purpose of visiting one of the Stores.

A trip to the store is definitely on my list. Might try to do that some weekend before the end of the year.

Congrats on your retirement and thank you for your service!

Every time I take it to the range, every one stops and watches. I will count the rounds and stop at #7, and you can see everybody is waiting just so they can hear that !PING!. I like to keep them waiting.

You're such a tease...but it is an awesome sound...

I need to visit the ranges you guys use. I go to Red Castle, but the regulars there are so jaded they don't even bat an eyelash when I uncase and shoot a "plebeian" M1 Garand. The only time anyone ever noticed was when I had a M1D and a M1903A4 laid out side by side.
