Anyone had this done? If so, did you do it yourself or have someone do it? I bought the kit from Lowe's and really want to do it - just don't have the time these days. I've read extensively on doing the proper pre-treatment on the concrete as it seems most people who have had issues with theirs didn't do the adequate de-greasing/muriactic acid etch.

I bought the Rustoleum garage floor treating kit.

Anyone?

I did it to my man cave using the Rustoleum. 8 hours to prep the concrete and 30 minutes to apply. I haven't had any troubles so far. However if I did it again I would use the Sherwin Williams product as a believe the Rustoleum product is inferior. Regardless, the citric acid in the kit is not near enough to do a proper cleanup job on anything but brand new concrete. You should use something like this: http://t.homedepot.com/p/Seal-Krete-64-oz-Clean-N-Etch-Etching-Solution-411000/203002765/ to thoroughly clean and prep the surface.

If I was to do it, I would follow the directions exactly but would do one more thing, I would take my floor machine and diamond grind it to open it up and get rid of the slick finish on the concrete. Run a good vacuum on it afterwards. Things stick better to a more porous or "opened" concrete surface.

Sounds like you want it to look nice. If you were only doing your concrete for protection and not color, take a look at a product called Diamond Hard. It is not a coating that you will most likely have to replace some day, and paint will not stick to it well, in fact scrapes off easily when dry. It does a chemical reaction with the top 1/4 inch of your concrete that makes it very hard and not porous, water does not soak into it. An oil drip spill that has sat for a week can be wiped up with a paper towel with a little gas on it. Only thing is that if you have a stain or tire track before application, it will be there forever. Used it in my aircraft hangars. Mop cleans it well.

I did mine 2.5 years ago with epoxy kit from HIS Paint in OKC. I haven't had any peeling or chips and my garage gets used and abused. I spent about 12 hours on prep but I am a little OCD like that.
