What is the course of fire at an Appleseed shoot?

I'm talking about the Rifleman Qualification shoots,,,
I've been all over their website and can't find anything.

I've signed up for an Appleseed event,,,
I sure would like to know the details of the qualification round.

Hit the targets at 25, 50, 100, 200 and 300 in the time limits. I don't remember exactly but it's 3 shots at each and like 1:30 to do it in.

Someone much more knowledgeable than me will be by to tell you exactly.

Needless to say I am not YET a rifleman!

The 25m AQT we use has simulated distance targets that are the same size in your sight picture as man-sized targets at the actual distances.

Stage 1: One simulated 100 yard target, one mag, 10 rounds, 2 minutes, firing from standing.

Stage 2: Two simulated 200 yard targets; mags of 2 and 8, 5 and 5 in the targets, 55 seconds, start standing, shoot seated or kneeling.

Stage 3: Three simulated 300 yard targets, mags of 2 and 8, 3 3 4 in the targets, 65 seconds, start standing, shoot prone.

Stage 4: Four simulated 400 yard targets, one mag, 10 rounds, 2 2 3 3 in the targets, 5 minutes, shoot prone (this stage counts double).

To score Expert and get the Rifleman's patch, you need to score 210 or higher.

You can also qualify on the full distance AQT at ranges where we shoot it... we use a true man-sized target at each distance. The COF is the same, except that there is only one target at each distance, so no target transitions are required.

Sometimes we also do a 100 yard AQT where we fire at 25, 50, 75, and 100 yards on an appropriately-sized target... you can qualify on this as well. This allows .22 shooters to experience just about the same amount of trajectory compensation that is required for a center fire rifle on the full 400 yard AQT.

This AQT Timer App is the cat's ass for getting basic general knowledge of, familiarizing yourself with and practicing to shoot an Appleseed AQT.

The real training begins when you show up to the rifle clinic with a teachable attitude and meet the RWVA instructors and shoot boss, though.

Looks like I'll have three opportunities to bring home that coveted Rifleman's patch at my favorite range in 2014:

We also have three new events at USSA in Tulsa -- April 19-20, August 2-3, and November 8-9.

Christmas just came early for me.

Yep, looking forward to it!

Just out of curiosity, how do you feel about the color Orange? Purely random question, no ulterior motives or anything. :wink2:

Also the Appleseed Instructor in Training hats are orange (you get one if you shoot Expert and volunteer to help instruct at our events).

But now that you mention it, I was born in raised in Stillwater and got my undergrad degree at O-State, so I am fond of the color as well. :)

Well, I am very excited about this upcoming event,,,
If nothing else it will be a fun break from my normal routine.

As for the rifle I will be using,,,
I just ordered a pair of M1 slings,,,
I will put one on my Mossberg 702 Plinkster.

The other will be mounted onto my Beretta NEOS Carbine,,,
Just don't ask me how I'm going to accomplish that,,,
But I have a full shop so I'll invent something.

Perhaps it's silly for me to even try to use the carbine,,,
But I have a new-found love for the little thing,,,
It will be very enjoyable giving it a try.

I (being a gun-junkie) was very intrigued with that Marlin LTR,,,
I especially liked those tech-sights that it comes with,,,
Then I saw that they make them for my Mossberg,,,
I love a legitimate excuse to buy a new gadget. :wink2:

I have a friend I am trying to talk into doing the Appleseed event,,,
I did place the order for those Tech-Sights for my Mossberg,,,
If he decides to do this I'll let him use the Plinkster.

Looking forward to this event. :woohoo1:
