This is a work in progress, as I'd like to try and find hand guards that better match the stock, especially the rear HG. So far, this M1 has gone from this:

The stock set is all birch, with DAS and serif-P cartouches, so the stock was sent to Springfield Armory for use as a replacement during a rebuild. It has bedding of a color and type seen on National Match rifles built by SA, though it came to me separate from any rifle on which it might've originally been placed. The front HG has a bit of figuring along the lower edge, but the rear HG only has two-tone figuring instead of the three-tone on the stock. If any of you folks ever come across a three-tone USGI rear HG made of birch, please let me know :)

Perplexed, how did you bring out that tiger? It may be the pic but in the before pic I'm just not seeing much. Gorgeous man, just gorgeous..

I didn't - the stock set that came on the rifle is walnut. I replaced all the wood with this birch set. It doesn't hurt the value of the rifle, since it'd been rebuilt at least once. I wish I could say I magically transformed the "original" stock, but alas :wink2:

Todd, almost sure I don't have one but I will look Monday. Think you got most of the metal parts I had, but I will see if there is any wood left in the chest.

Those are some good lookin' rifles!
The new stock on the last one is awesome.
Filling out another CMP order today, gotta get me a WWll era Springer and Winny.
Gonna keep a form and overnight envelope on hand for when the IHCs go on sale, too.

Thanks. You do know though that the CMP is only offering HRA's at this time via mail order? They're "sold out" of Springfields and Winchesters for now, and it may be a while before the SA's turn up again for sale. I'm dubious about the WRA's being numerous enough to be offered for sale again, unless you just happen to be in one of the two Stores the day they put a handful of those out on the racks. They've done that a few times over the last six months or so.

As for the IHC's... I'm watching for that sale as well, but I'll wait for the initial reports. If the price is market correct or nearly so, and a lot of the rifles turn out to be mixmasters, I'll pass. It'd be pricey to try and correct one of those rifles.
