CMP IHC Garands now available

Thought I'd throw out a heads up for anyone interested. The CMP announced today that they have released a small number of IHC's for sale. From the email :

INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CORPORATION M1 GARANDS. CMP currently has 511 Service Grade IHC M1 Garand rifles (with LMR barrels) available for purchase. The CMP North and CMP South stores will be allocated 64 of these rifles each. The balance of 383 rifles will be reserved for mail order purchase. Price of these rifles, CMP item number RM1IHCSLMR, is $975 plus $29.95 S&H. CMP also has 384 Service grade IHC M1 Garand rifles that do not have LMR barrels. Price of these rifles, CMP item number RM1IHCS, is $925 plus $29.95 S&H. Please note that the only part on either of these two item numbers guaranteed to be the IHC is the receiver. Purchasers are limited to only one IHC M1 Garand per customer. Mail orders will be accepted immediately until enough orders are received to allocate the current inventory. Rifles will be available at the stores on 5 June, 2014. We do still have approximately 2,000 IHC rifles to inspect and repair and make ready for sale. We expect the next partial IHC release to be in November, 2014, but it may be sooner.

If you're interested in getting one, better get your completed order form in the mail today with overnight or 2-day delivery so it gets to Anniston Monday morning. I expect they'll sell out that morning, despite the chance of getting nothing IHC marked except the receiver. I think the CMP will try to include some gems in this go-round so as to drum up interest for the next sale of IHC's.

I agree. I think I'll pass for now and see what they look like when they're shipping. I'd like to see what a $1000 IHC looks like to the CMP. Might throw my hat in the ring next go around. Saw a post in the forums today where Orest confirmed more SA's coming in the future, so there's that as well.

I'm waiting to see what they look like and then MAYBE I'll be in for round 2. I did go ahead and order a couple of the grade "C" Springfield receivers for projects down the road. Hope they aren't too rough.

Man, an IHC is all I need to round out the collection. But it's not in the cards right now. Maybe the next batch.

IMHO, $1K shipped for an IHC mixmaster with correct barrel is a decent price. Not great like the Remington .22 LR or the M1D accessories the CMP sold in recent years, but a bit better than what you could hope to find at a gun show, even if only the barrel is correct for the receiver. It'd be an even better deal if you already have IHC parts in your stash, especially a stock and/or op rod. It's the IHC's with the replacement barrels that I thought should have been priced at least $150 lower, not $75. A correct LMR barrel in good but not perfect condition will set you back at least $200.

I thought so too. Just bad timing on my end, coming off a vacation trip and my bride deciding to buy a new car. Why can't ODCMP consult with me prior to their sales updates? I need them to send me a letter "Dear SMS, in about a month we are going to have exactly what you need for $XXX, but shhhh, don't tell anyone else". LOL.
