I bought a modified Yugo from a fellow OSA member a couple of years ago. Shortly after, I did like so many other and slapped a Tapco T6 stock on it. Lately, I've been looking to mix things up a bit. So, I'm re-refinishing the stock that came on it when I bought it. The plastic Tapco stock was getting a little old to me. Got her stripped, sanded and stained up to this point. Wanted to go for that "pepper" finish that you see on Timbersmith, Boyd's and other stocks. I will be applying several coats of tru-oil over the next few days.

I like it, looks good!

Thanks.

The stock has 5 coats of tru-oil in it now. Not sure if I want to leave so glossy. I'm happy with the way it turned out though.

I also took a shot at converting a 20 round Tapco magazine to a 5 rounder. I'm pleased with it too. Let's hope it's as reliable as the original.

Why convert to a five round mag?

For me, a few reasons...

With about half a dozen of the Tapco mags laying around, first I figured why not.

I also like the lines of the rifle better with a magazine similar in size to the original. I could simply put the original magazine back on, but it would bring into play 922(r) compliance issues. The Tapco mags count for 2 US made parts.

Also, I wanted a 5-round option in case I ever have the desire to take it hunting sometime.

Not against the law to use 20, 30, even 75 round drum on a 7.62 for hunting.
