Since I'm at a stand still on the burban I've been focusing my attention on my new DD.

Ahh I see. I picked up a new to me Short wide bed Chevy 05 for a run around truck. Hate driving my Diesels around town and such. Jumped head first in it. I like you, want to know that everything is in tip top shape. Cleaned the **** out of it, got all the chrome up and shiny, new brakes, shocks, spark plugs, wires, detailed the inside. I have not had a gas truck in 25 or so years. I usually kept a little Honda car or Toyota something to drive back and forth to the Fire Dept as I hated to use my Diesels for short trips and such. I have enjoyed tinkering with this truck, getting it back in tip top shape and all. Son in law is talking me into lowering it, to make it get into easier on my back. So going to start looking into a lowering kit.

You recommend any good brand of lowing kit to buy, and where to get one at?

If you wanna lower it i would go with bilstein shocks so the comfort of the ride doesnt suffer and lower it with belltech spindles. Maybe a 2 / 4 " drop should make it sit level and lower it enough to make it easy fir you ti get in and out of. Another thing to keep in mind is if you ever wanna tow or carry anything in the bed i would suggest a helper air bag system for the bed. This will keep the bed off the axles and help support the extra weight of items in the bed.

Lowers trucks the right way cost just as much as lifting then the right way.

Thanks, I knew you would know about them. I have the Diesel to haul stuff, this is jut a run around town truck. And yea on keeping the ride soft. I like the Bilstein Shocks, I ran them on all my Dodge Diesel's. Good shocks.

Never thought that lowering one would be as costly as raising one, but makes sense.

Raising one and lower one can cost as much as you wanna spend. You slam a truck by throwing some shorter cheap struts on it and cutting the springs but the ride will suffer drastically. You can lift a truck by throwing some blocks on it and turning the torsion keys but again your ride quality will suffer.

I know it's not Burban related but here is just one of the many projects that's been taking up my time.

I've said it before and i'll say it again, I always seem to have way too many irons in the fire. If there were only more hours in a day :/

Ha, understand. I kept looking at your photos and was expecting you to take a rubber mallet and make you a place for your butt to sit, while doing wheelies!! You are a painter it looks like, good job!

In other news i washed the and polished the burban tonight and i noticed the paint is total ****. Not sure if its due to age, half ass prep work, cheap material, or a combination of all of them but the paint is slowly but surely chilling off in giant sections. When i first bought the csr the hood had a really bad spot on it that i covered with plasyi dip. Tonight when cleaning the car the roof is doing the same damn thing.

My plans are to pull the engine this next week, paint the bay and pulleys, and get the new engine installed. Looks like soon after that i will be fixing a small amount of hail damage, stripping it to the bare metal, and painting it. Its not aomething i had planned to do anytome soon but it looks like now is as good a time as any.

I really need to get my ass in gear and get the lift done, get the rock sliders built, and get the roof rack built before i paint it. Loke i said it always seems like i have way to much to do and just not enough time in the day to do it all.
