My Dad has a place in the range outside of the Grand Mesa. Went there in August for visit. The nights were impressive.

Shotty,

We used to have two sets of aunts and uncle (and cousins) that lived in Hotchkiss, CO. When I was a kid, we'd go up there just about every year or two. One of my uncles had a boat and an old woody station wagon that we'd go up on Grand Mesa for some camping and fishing. That is some beautiful country up there. Within the last 4 years, we took a drive around Colorado before moving up here and went through Hotchkiss, although all our family is gone. Our circle took us along the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. That has changed some since they dammed up part of it.

Terry-Minor color adjustment. I was there are the right time of the day to get good light. The third photo was in the middle of the day and it washes it out. the others were in the morning and at night. I live 45 minutes from RMNP so it makes it easier to get lots of photos and pick out the best ones. The sky is so clear and blue here so it makes it easy.!

Hey, I never even noticed your "location" in the profile. We were up that way last year for a camping trip with our nephew and other family members to Camp Dick campground. We didn't get to RMNP, but we only had something like 5 days for camping and a bit of off-roading. Dang pretty country up there.

The wife and I took our normal walk yesterday morning and was surprised to see that the far blue mountains (otherwise known as the Sangre de Cristo range) were capped with fresh new snow. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera with me on that trip, and when I finally got back up on that ridge to take pictures, it had clouded over. For now, I'll just show the photos I took with clouds. Later, I'll come back and post photos from today because there aren't any clouds out there today.

It's been getting down into the low 40's for temps for the last couple of weeks, so I really shouldn't have been surprised. Some old folks just seem to forget.
