Just wanted to share some pics of an M39 my wife gave me for my birthday. It really wasn't too much of a surprise since she had asked me for the details of where to buy one (Pat Burns). Anyway, I've had it for a while now...just getting around to sharing it. I was hitting 8" plates out at 100 yards with no problems. Needless to say, I love it.

From what I can tell, it's a run of the mill wartime Sako, but let me know if any of the markings say something different.

1943 Sako built on a 1900 dated Tula receiver. :thumb:

Beautiful rifle...especially the stock. Does it have round, transitional, or square splice fingers? That is a much nicer example than most of the M39's that were received from Classic in the last few weeks. Count yourself lucky that you got one from Pat Burns.

sweet rifle, one of my favorites to shoot at the military bolt action matches. i took mine to a match without ever shooting it beforehand. shot in the 90's with surplus ammo. yeah, i know, i shouldnt be shooting surplus in a fine rifle but it was more of an experiment to see what it would do.

Thanks. The stock is what really caught my eye on this one. It has the rounded splice fingers.

What happened to the supply from Pat Burns? Did they sell everything they had or did someone come in and buy their inventory?

Pretty sure she just sold the rougher rifles to Classic, but they were not very honest about condition. I picked up a few super nice ones at SOG during the same time Classis had theirs. Nice rifle OP!

Thanks! I missed all the excitement with the SOG and Classic M39's. How much were they going for?

I traded one of those to a member some years ago. Still regret it. Yours is a very nice example. Keep it!

Thanks. I plan to and tend to keep firearms that were gifts.

Very nice arctic birch stock on that rifle! I had a quartet of M39's with the "Puolustuslaitos" stamp a few years ago, but none had a stock as figured as the one on yours. Enjoy, but be sure to wear a recoil pad on your shoulder ;)

I'm fairly certain that this seller on GB is the same as gunsnammo.com (Pat Burns). They currently have about 5 M39s listed with some of them built on antique receivers.
