The 73 was always one of my favorites, aviator. :thumb:

Just for you, Quiqleysharps4570, here's my daughter and I shooting our 'Quigley" - it's actually a pedersoli Sharps with a coin finish so not really a Quigley, but everyone we shoot with calls it "The Quiqley" because it's the longest Sharps they've ever seen! (we're sighting in some now 45-70 ammo here)

Great pics aviator. What load you shooting there? This one of mine is partial to a 535 gr. cast bullet with 70 grs. of Goex Cartridge grade powder and my smokeless load is with IMR 3031 powder. The smokeless load throws that big bullet out there at 1650 fps...it's a go-getter. :wink2:

NICE rifles! Are you familiar with the Taylors & Company 1892 and if so, what is your opinion?

Taylors rifles are nicely finished Uberti's which makes them a fine rifle. In my opinion, the 92 is the least finely finished of them all and would choose a pre-64 Winchester before I paid that kind of money for a Taylors if you're looking for a rifle caliber. If you are wanting a pistol caliber, the taylors would be a good choice.

I'm currently set up to shoot a 292 grain cast round nose bullet using 55 grains of H4198 and a mag primer loaded in Starline brass. I'm pushing just north of 2000fps and getting no leading at all thanks to SPG lube. I'm zeroed at 150 yards and bracketed to 300. I just put a new globe front sight on it. We had a good time playing with the different inserts but landed on the super-fine post for the best accuracy.

I've not shot it using black powder yet, but I certainly will be as I plan on shootin it in the single shot buffalo class of cowboy action side matches.

I've enjoyed it so much I may just drag it into the deer stand this year! What a hoot that would be!

Thank you! A few weeks ago I was debating between a Taylors and Company 1892 and a CZ 527FS in .223 and went with the CZ on an impulse. Still thinking of the Taylor in 44 mag in the future.

I think a lot depends on what you want to do with it. the CZ is a fine bolt action. interesting design and accurate when the shooter does his part. I'm not a huge 223 fan but I certainly understand it's appeal, especially today. I also have my own hoard of it and several black rifles in 5.56 that need feeding.

I would have chosen the lever action but hey, I've found my calling in all things old west and cowboy action.
