It’s got the good stuff in it.:thumb:

Seriously, George has worked with a seed company to pick plants that are attractive and beneficial to deer as well as game birds, and in my opinion, it would be insane on his part to advertise the contents. I can tell you from personal experience that it works, and deer absolutely love it. I bought 50lbs last year and am buying 50lbs again this year. If it wasn’t worth it, I dang sure wouldn’t spend the money or go to the effort of planting it.

It is THE LAW that he advertise what is in it.

That about sums it up.:anyone:

This is my last response to this topic, and for the record, other than having planted the mix, I don’t have a dog in this hunt.
I looked at the Bass Pro catalog earlier today, and none of their food plot blends give the “recipe” in their ads. Why would you expect this one to be any different?!?
As far as the plants not doing well in your area, I planted it along the Salt Fork in Alfalfa county OK as well as my place in western part of Nacogdoches county in east TX, and it did extremely well in both areas even though the terrain and soil types are vastly different. I even “overseeded” it with no prior soil prep, so given my results, I’d say it’s pretty forgiving.

I’m buying 50 lbs again this year, and I can assure you that if I didn’t believe in it I wouldn’t buy it again.:thumb:

George is a good guy. I have used the Buck Forage Oats for at least 6 or 7 years. He has been spot on with the attraction and winter hardiness they provide. Through the years I have added various other seeds to try and aid the attraction, from winter peas, purple top turnips/radishes, clovers, alfalfa and chicory. Some were obvious good producers and attraction, others were not efficient for me in my small plots. For instance Austrian Winter Peas were only available to me in a 50# bag, and I didn't need that much for a small mixed food plot and I didn't want to throw all of my eggs in 1 basket with a monoculture of AWP in a plot.
I was curious what was in the 4x4 mix, to see if it was similar to what I was already adding to my BFO food plots, but I didn't mean to kick a hornet's nest. I think his food plot suggestions are great and the group buy on the BFO only saves us money and benefits us. The 4x4 mix is a great addition to a cerial grain food plot.

My last comment on the subject also.

I am not after anyone’s character or product or anything else. I am just pointing out the law and what it gives as requirements in labeling. To be compliant, that’s what the label must include. The source is the link posted above. Interpret that and do with it as you will.

The Oklahoma Seed Law is a consumer protection and labeling law. It requires agricultural or vegetable seed to be labeled with specific information to inform the consumer about the quality of the seed they are buying. This information must include the kind and variety of seed, percentage of pure seed, percentage of inert matter, percentage of other crop seed, percentage of weed seed, the name and number of noxious weed seed per pound, the origin, percentage of germination and the date the seed was tested. The name and address of the firm or individual who labeled or distributed the seed must also be included on the label.

Deer Slayer says the order cut off date is next Tuesday and the oats should be in week after next.

I took it as the cut off date was this past Tuesday and we’d have them in by the first of next week.

Both orders are cutting off THIS Tuesday as I have a landowner that just closed on a piece of property and wishes to plant this season. The BFO's and the 4 X 4 will be ordered Tuesday and should arrive on Friday in time for weekend planting. I have already advised the BFO producer of their order so they can prep Tuesday morning. I have several bags of 4 X 4 in stock already. I try to assist everyone. It is still too early for planting BFO's for optimum success. They should be planted around mid September. The daylight is shorter and the nights are cooler. September is typically rainy. The fields are gaining moisture content that has been lost during the hot weather. The later these cold tolerant oats are planted the better they will be. If they are planted now there is a distinct possibility that September will heat back up and what oats that have sproated can wither and die. I have seen this happen before. You would have wasted time and money and you will have to do it again at greater expense. Be patient, it WILL happen.
Bassin has planted BFO's almost since the beginning of when I first trialed them. Sticky Stokes as well. They have not had any failures. Both have orders again for this year.
I don't sell failures.......... I sell success, if people will follow instructions. Be patient it WILL happen
