At Ponca There are covered shooting benches with target stands downrange for precision shooting at 300 yds, as well as hanging steel plates on chains for shooting fun.
300 yards isn't really long range for the long range shooters, but it is long range for 95% of others.

Well, I guess I'm part of that 95%.

OKC Gun club has covered lines with steel to 550. We'd probably want to work it as an event so we aren't just brigading the silhouette line and stepping on the toes of any matches.

I wouldn't mind trying my hand at 300-500 with my AR setup (cheap red dot with 45 degree mounted iron sights). Plus a chance to meet more people and chew the fat (or shoot the sheet, whichever way it goes). Jan is out for me though, using up all my vaca time for a cruise and wont accrue more until Feb. And willing to travel to OKC area. Would be cool to find a place to do both LR and regular range to ring some steel with pistolas as well.

At Ponca it will be in the March time frame if it happens there. We had an EAS there in the past. So many pistols, that it was tough getting over to the rifle side of the range. We basically ran out of time finally getting over to the 100 yd range and never got to hit the 300 yd. That's why I suggested long range only because our range rules state that a Range Member must accompany all guest shooters. We could do a quick 100 yd to get everyone on paper, and the move to the 300yd. I'd think most should already be zero'd at 100 but if not we could make that happen.

That makes sense.

I'm in. I've been wanting to change the optic on my 308 for a while. This seems like a perfect opportunity to get it done before the next ENS.
