We're feelin like farmers now, we picked up 2 cows both with 5 m/o heifer calves and should be bred back.. But not just any ole cows, mini/ small cows a lowline/ Aberdeen angus and a mini Hereford.. Round abouts 38" tall at the hip and 700-1000 lbs.. Really enjoying the antics between the cows and LGD.. We have a lot to learn yet as we have never had cows in this capacity.. We have put 4 beef calves and several pigs in the freezer over the last 30 years.. But those were 1 captured animal being fed out.. I'm thinking the Hereford calf may be polled ? At 5 months I would think we'd see some buds starting..

Hey those are cute! I think there is still age left for that calf to start makin some horns. Did you feel around with your fingers? I've seen some of our Hereford or Charolais calves not start budding until they were close to a year old.

I'll keep my eye open for horn growth, if she turns out to be polled we may hang onto her for the herd, if not she's freezer bound.. I'm far more partial to the angus so it won't hurt my feelings none to fatten her up put her on the table..

WooHoo, blessings are upon us again.. Picked up a bull this morning.. 13 mo Hereford, currently 38" tall so he should be a 00 frame at 3 years possibly 000 but not likely.. I was searching for a lowline bull and prices were a bit more than we could handle and low a behold this guy appears for a bargain.. Oh and he's polled too..
