I got some reduced loads ready. I’m pretty sure Dumpstick will appreciate me not touching off full house rounds next to him!

Ok, I’m confused. In one post it says “bolt gun match” and another it says “winter war” are these two different matches or calling the one match by two different names?

The series of matches are all Military Bolt-gun Matches.

Most if the year, one may shoot whatever one pleases. Carcano, Mosin, Mauser, Schmidt-Rueben, whatever.

A few times a year, there is a specific model of military rifle used. In Dec it's SMLEs, in Jan it's Mosins.

You may still shoot a 1903-A3 (for example) during the Mosin match, but your score will not count. It will still be posted, but if you outshoot every other competitor you still do not win.
Last month was the SMLE match. I shot my M39 Finn Mosin.
I wasn't sneered at any more than usual for my miserable showing.

Just bring whatever you have, and shoot. It really is a great time.
