For me, yes. I travel to Kansas twice a month, Texas 3-4 times a year, Alabama 1-2 times a year and Missouri once a year.
KS MO and AR are all OK reciprocity states. all the green is.

The difference is actually seeing the permit as opposed to wondering whether you're telling the truth. Criminals will often say anything during a traffic stop.

Personally, I'd rather deal with a calm officer than a nervous one.

Your call. :drunk2:

So what are you trying to say? Now that since we went permit-less, that every cop in Oklahoma is going to all the sudden be all freaked out wondering whether the person they have pulled over has a gun or not...lol?

Look... I agree, if you’re not a bad guy or a criminal, then that means you’ve got nothing to hide and in certain ways just for arguments sake, you shouldn’t have a problem with telling a cop beforehand that you have a gun, or voluntarily showing him your permit if you have one instead of waiting for him to ask but, the law is the law- and it now states that duty to inform is no longer required- unless asked.

And since permits are no longer required to carry, that officer probably isn’t going to even care about that permit as much as you think he will, and whether you take the time to show it to him or not. At least the one I was talking about didn’t, anyway.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t continue showing a traffic cop your pistol permit, and I’m not even trying to talk you out of doing it, I’m just simply saying that times are different now. Before, even if you were a good guy and you told a cop you had a loaded gun in your car, he’s already gonna figure you have a permit, or at least he’ll be hoping you have one because before, you could only do that with a permit. Now, it doesn’t matter because permits are no longer required. And technically, if he doesn’t ask, you don’t have to tell him anything so, credibility and brownie points mean nothing. You saying it does, is like saying somebody who gets pulled over who has a gun, loaded, no permit, and doesn’t voluntarily inform- you know, doing what the law permits, is suggesting that that person won’t be as well off, credibility-wise as someone who still sings to the old tune.

I've been stopped once while carrying......headed north on McArthur early one chilly Sat. morning at dark thirty just past the river bridge doing about 10 over the limit.

Saw lights come on in the rear view mirror and I knew I was justifiably had.....rolled down the window and put both hands on the wheel in plain sight and waited for her to get to me.

Right, wrong or indifferent it was my habit to put my wallet and carry gun in my lunchbox and have it sitting on the passenger seat when going to work....when she told me that she wanted to see my license and registration I told her that I had a license to carry and that my carry license, drivers license and gun were all in my lunchbox and not wanting for her to see my gun and get nervous when opening my lunchbox I ask her how she wanted to proceed.

With one hand now on her holstered Glock she ask me to hand her my closed lunchbox through the window and unlock the rear doors if they weren't already I did......she took my lunchbox, stepped to the rear passenger door and opened it, sat it on the seat, opened it, took out my wallet, closed the lunchbox, left it in the backseat and closed the door then handed me my wallet and ask me to get my carry and drivers license out and then ask me to get out and walk to the rear of the vehicle while she called in my tag.

When she finished calling in she handed me back my licenses and let me off with just a warning and said, "thank you for informing me that you had a firearm."

I can only imagine how things might have gone if I'd have just unthinkingly opened my lunchbox and reached in for my wallet and she'd have seen my handgun without me informing her.

If ever stopped again the first thing I will tell the officer, as I did that time, is that there is a firearm in the vehicle.

I’m not trying to make a mockery of your post or your situation but first off, was this after November first, or before? I’m assuming it was after but either way, if you didn’t carry your wallet in the same compartment as your gun, you wouldn’t have had a problem. If only your gun was in your lunch box, you could’ve pulled your wallet out of your back pocket, out of your glove box or out of your center console and she probably wouldn’t have thought nothin’ of it. But since you kept your wallet where your gun is, it’s a very wise thing you did tell her there was a gun in your lunch box because of you hadn’t have, she woulda flipped a biscuit as soon as you opened that lunch box and she saw your undisclosed gun...lol.

No, the new carry law has nothing to do with it.

Criminals are always a concern, because they don't obey the laws. Officers have no way of knowing what they'll encounter when they approach your vehicle.

You asked why informing the officer on a traffic stop would make a difference, and I simply gave you my opinion. I stand by that.

It's still your call. :drunk2:

I'm presuming that graphic is relative to states with reciprocity with Oklahoma's permitless carry law. By contrast, this is a link to the OSBI's page regarding the reciprocity states for those that have permits. (Scroll down to the bottom of the webpage.)

According to both of those maps I'll keep my permit and take the permit reciprocity map for now like I say until everybody is on a same page. Heck, with "constitutional carry " you can't make it to any USA coast or border from Oklahoma legally except the Louisiana coast.
