I didn’t see Wilshire Gun range listed.

Wilshire has its good points, but very few used guns. They are neck deep in Sig Sauer to a fault. I’d guess they might have 5 or 6 Glocks on display for instance.

Good place to stop in and look around, but I don’t think it’s what the OP is looking for.

One question, were you known to them or a brand new customer?

Like @undeg01 & MP I've never been what you'd call a frequent or known customer of Gene Sears I've just never had any problems as far as being waited on.

Gene is pretty well known in the shotgun sports and they normally had several expensive new and used shotguns on the racks and some in wood and blue velvet lined boxes on display for sale.....just looking at those fancy high dollar shotguns was almost worth the trip to me.

I don't know what the heck the deal is with you guys who had bad experiences at either Sears, or Big Boys is, but I have been to both places many times and never, ever had anything less than great service. I was down at Big Boys just this morning to do a little coordination for the ENS we have this coming Sunday there, and the guy who owns the place, Mike Blackwell, is as nice a guy as you'll find. In fact, they are giving us a pretty good deal on price for our ENS, and Mike himself is going to be there to make sure it runs smooth for us.

Maybe there was just something in somebody's coffee that day or something, but I am really surprised to hear that somebody was treated less then good at either place.

Some of these guys seem so thin skinned I Honestly don’t know how they are able to find anywhere to do business. [emoji23].

Mike is a very good guy. I like him a lot. I have had some experiences that let me leave and go purchase elsewhere. Not with Mike directly, but with an employee or two.

But I get over it. It takes more than that to turn me 100% off of a place. The good experiences far outweigh the bad. I buy more guns than the average person and there are plenty of places I shop. For many reasons! :)

I stood at the counter at Big Boys for at least 7 or 8 minutes and know one bothered to ask if I needed anything and they were not busy, I would understand if they were. They just didn't feel the need to wait on me, and that was not the first time that has happened to me in there. I turned around and went out the door and went to Mustang Gun and Pawn and got what I wanted. I'll give a place a few times but after that no, kinda like a bad place to eat. I have no need to go back in there, they can't compete with the internet anyway on price or availability. Bad service will kill a business just ask the folks at Outdoor America, they were the go to place for years in Okc because they had or could get anything and you couldn't beat there prices hardly. They just got to where they didn't want to mess with people and that was even when Fred was still alive and running it. The internet has made it hard for a small business to compete, so I don't think I would be pissing customer's off by blowing them off when they come in to buy stuff from you.

My best experiences were with George Dobvraloney (sp?) at Bison Shooter's Supply before the incident and a small gunshop east of Yukon on 10th. They met me at the door greeting me. Since I moved I don't even know if they are there anymore.

George took me out back and introduced me to a Thompson with drum. He let me clip dandelions.

I don't get to OKC very often, but always have enjoyed stopping at Gene Sears for reloading supplies, and Village Tactical and SSP for Dillon products and gun deals...I always went to the South location for SSP, but I think it closed and they consolidated to the North store...also have been in Henry's once and Big Boys a bit, nice selections at both just never bought from them at this time...if you're west of OKC area ever, hit up Tin Star in Weatherford, great folks and great prices there as well

Different strokes for different folks. I have had customer service experiences on both ends of the spectrum. Recently I was in Cabela's killing an hour of time while a friend I was driving for was in a doctor visit. It was during the day during the week and I felt like I was hounded by every employee working there and some twice to see if I needed help finding anything. In 8 weeks when I take the friend back for another doctor appointment, I bet I will go back there to pass some time. It is about a mile from the doctors building and I can make it back quickly when needed. I am not scared to approach a staff member if needed for help, I would prefer minimal contact.

I have walked into smaller shops and have been greeted by an employee, that may be several feet away behind the counter, with a "glad to see you, can I help you find anything?". I was allowed to look around without being constantly approached.

I am not going to get butt chapped for not getting VIP treatment like the top 10% of customers when I walk into a gun shop for the first couple of times or the 40th time. If they aren't respectful after asking for help, or when making a purchase that is where my opinion changes.
