For a certain place I hunt I use my .223 with 55gr V-Max loads.
3198 fps. Under 250 yards.. All deer and hogs died on the spot from my shots.

I have a 6.5 Creedmoor and I have not got a load as accurate as the little Savage axis .223 yet.
I have a .308 and I take it when distances get longer. The 6.5 I have is not as accurate as the .308 either.
I also have a 30-06 that shoots just a tick under the accuracy of the .308 and is much faster300+ fps faster.
Know your drops wait for the shot and know the wind. Take the gun you can best perform those tasks with.
I need to work on some other loads for the 6.5.

Which gun for you is the most accurate?
How far do you intend to shoot?
What distances have you shot both guns on paper?

I have just been watching YouTube most of the day yesterday and that was two rounds that seemed to have a lot people going different directions you have those that say bigger is better and some like myself and Dennis that like the less recoil and muzzle blast. They were saying you can’t tell the difference as far as energy until you get out past 1000 yards then the creedmoor carries has more accuracy but less energy. I sold my 300 back in December because I wasn’t very accurate with it I have a creedmoor and a .270win and just hunt around here so I don’t feel like I need a 300winmag I was just wondering your thoughts

I hunted with a Winchester model 94 30-30 for many years and before that it was a 20 gauge.
I had a fixed 4X Redfield wide field scope on it.
2200 fps with 150gr flat nose and I had the scope zero set at 250 yards.
I was deadly with it on deer.
Most shots under 300 yards.
Not a gun people think about past 100.

Most shots would pencil through and I knew it would happen so double lung and 40 yards later.

Like bracket racing You can bring your $200,000 car and i can beat you with a stock Automatic 2.3 Pinto if I am more consistent and can put it on the money.

Use what you can hit accurately with.
I used to throw rocks at the .223 saying it and the 55gr is too small to humanely kill a deer.
Boy was I wrong. They die very quick when hit with that little hand grenade.

Both will work. The .300WM is brutal on recoil and muzzle blast.
6.5 will do it all without all the detriments of recoil and MB.

Not with a Thunderbeast suppressor.

I put 50 rds of 300 WinMag down range yesterday and had no discomfort whatsoever. My buddies 308 that I sighted in was more punishing.

No doubt the suppressor will mitigate recoil and muzzle blast. A muzzle brake will just about eliminate recoil as well but everyone around it will suffer hearing damage. Lol.
One of the guys I elk hunted with in January had a brake on his .300 WM. I was shooting suppressed. When he cut loose right next to me, I wanted to butt stroke him and wrap that barrel with brake around the nearest tree. That thing hurt!
