Well, I will say that I will attempt to follow his orders to the best of my ability. I kinda' like my eyes. I didn't know he was a shooter until I went in for my consult, but I feel better knowing that he is.

I like it! A doc that's a straight shooter!

Well, I'd love to say I'll be there ... wherever and whenever ... but the best I can say is, "I'll try." I'm getting ready to have cataract surgery and the wife is getting ready for another back surgery. I'm afraid life is gonna' get complicated for a while!

Ouch. Hoping you both have a speedy recovery.

Dennis, how about we try to set a date at Ponca for the early 300 yard version? Give a couple more weeks, so say May 30th or June 6th? I'd be up for the drive one mornin', and even if my custom rifle isn't done by then, I could use my AR for 300 yards.

<edit> I'm assuming, of course, it is ok. I know you were going to check on current allowability - I just know we can kick the can around for months, maybe if we start talking about some dates, people will get on board.

Ok as of today, the Ponca Range is officially open for groups to shoot and matches to resume. Social Distancing, blah, blah.
May 30 is open, and June 6th is also open at the 300 yard Range.
We can reserve the 300 yard range for 4 hours or so.
Just about everyone has to travel so you folks tell me what you want to have as a start time. For those that haven't been there, its about 15-20 minutes to Ponca to get something to eat. Ponca is East of the Range with a variety of places to eat.
Tonkawa is about 10 minutes away to the west and has a diner called Mary's for a place to eat. Nothing fancy, but its been around since the 60's and has small town diner fare.
Those are the options, so let's talk.

Thanks Dennis. That's two hours from me, I'm in! Hopefully we don't have to have a super early start time, but it sounds like fun. A few questions though as discussions begin: Are we doing long range only? Are we considering bringing any pistols or shotguns?

On a personal note, if we do bring pistols, I'd be curious if that facility would allow me to fire my CZ Scorpion in binary mode.

The range rules allow full auto weapons and binary triggers. The only stipulation is that all rounds on any range must impact the back berm at 2'-7'.
It will be up to the group what we bring for firearms. The last time we had an EAS there, we started with pistol, went to the 100 yard bay for rifles but ran out of time to do shotgun. Everyone was hungry and some had to leave for other appointments.
Range rules require a club member to accompany guests at all times while on the property. If @Profreedomokie is able to attend, (he is a club member) we would have to work out the logistics.
