My brother and I did the math on what this year’s steer is going to cost per pound of processed meat, and according to the yield percentage on last years, it should cost $3.25-3.50 per pound. The steer weighed 1190 lbs, and we estimate we’ll end up with around 350 lbs of meat each.
Ok, we picked up our meat this morning, and the math in the previous post was all wrong. The actual hanging weight was 764#, and we got 398# of finished product. The actual cost per pound is $5.55/lb. Last year’s was $5.62/lb.
The owner said he normally sell 3-5 calves per month for slaughter but has sold 87 in the last 60 days. The media’s meat shortage prediction has been great for this guy!:thumb:

The t-bone or porterhouse is my favorite cut and as you know @Mad Professor I'm a pretty good sized fella but there's no way even I could polish off a 3.42 lb steak in one sitting......sure would be nice to try tho. :)

For those that might not know the difference between a t-bone and porterhouse......they're pretty much the same steak except you get more of the filet with a porterhouse.
