I saw a study that said 1 in 3 Oklahomans order their steak well done. It's saddening. The cows already been killed, why murder it again?

I'm good anywhere between med-rare and medium on a marbled cut of ribeye... Just enough to turn the fat translucent.

Who's ordering well done steak? And do you put ketchup on it?

I like my steak medium well with A-1 on the side, a baked potato w/sour cream, salad and some sort of vegetable. Hot rolls and butter wouldn't be bad with it either. Although I've known people that will just order a steak and salad and be happier than a fat rat in a gran barrel.

I figure that if I'm paying for it (or someone I'm with), then I can order it any way I d8mn well please. That being said, I typically go for medium to medium-well. I only go for medium-well because some people seem to think that medium means the d8mn thing should be mooing when they bring it out to me.

I have a friend who is (or was, before the 'Rona took hold of everything) a chef at one of the fancy restaurants in OKC. He's always outspoken about how it's a travesty that I eat my steak "overcooked". I always like to post pics of well done steaks with ketchup on them on his Facebook page just to wrinkle his shorts. :-)

I know lots of family and friends that are Okies and they would feed a well done steak to the dog ! Everyone I know takes it medium but would prefer it medium rare over medium well. I only know one female that actually asks to have hers cooked well done and she's a yankee.

I'm also quite surprised on the charts that pork chops are so low on the scale of preferred grilled meat. I would probably rather have a good, thick port chop than chicken or anything else. Even cook those with a little pinkish interior too.

When I was in high school, I worked for a while in a restaurant. On our dinner break, we could order anything we wanted at half price, so I splurged one night and ordered a steak. The chef asked how I wanted it cooked, and I said Well Done. He looked at me and said, "Son... you're missing out on one of the greatest pleasures in life." I said Oh? What is that? He said, "Just warmed up to room temperature."

These days, I'm not picky, I'll eat anything just north of raw and just south of burnt. But I like Medium... hot pink center.
