The .40 HPs are a bit beefier (and all .40 HPs are cast I believe)...and you can get conversion barrels for 9mm and I think also .357 Sig if you start with a .40...but a 9mm one you're "stuck" with 9mm.

Have you shot one? If so, how do they handle?

9mm HPs rock. I cannot speak for a .40.
I have two 9mm ones and both have been totally reliable. Their triggers are a bit on the heavy side but super crisp. One is at a gunsmith right now getting a trigger job. (I had a 3rd HP, it was an Israeli Arsenal refurb that was a total turd).

You are correct, 9mm Hi-Powers DO rock. I carried one in my youth. I’m curious about the 40, don’t know anyone that’s ever shot one let alone, owns one.

I had a Para TAC4 LDA at one time, ran perfectly after replacing the mag springs with ones from Wolff. Those Wolff mag springs fixed up a lot of double stack Paras.

If the libs think a 10 rounder is all you need, get a 10 round single stack mag for a 1911 plus one in the chamber makes it high capacity in their warped thinking. I carry my .45 with a 10 round extended mag on occasion.

I got rid of my beloved para because it was never 100% reliable. It fit my big hands perfectly but just would never feed a a magazine of ball ammo reliably. It was that damn feed ramp.
