In my 04 Silverado, I just had my two blend doors replaced because they quit sending the cold air in on the drivers side and the dash had to be removed to do so. I have no cabin filter. My blend doors have sounded like a ping pong match ever since I bought the truck.

I’ve a 2008 F150. Had her since she was new. Never got around to changing the AC cabin filter. Still have plenty of cool ice cold air. Having researched it in the past I think I have to take my glove box off to get at it. Haven’t had a reason to mess with it. With my luck if I went to replace it I’d have an incident like working with plumbing. Fix one thing and two three other things break. So my logic is if it’s working don’t mess with it.

Changed out my 2006 Nissan Sentra that used to be my commuter vehicle for a 36 mile commute last year. When turning on the AC, got a real musty smell. Some models had the filter, some didn't at that model year. After research, found mine did.
When I took it out there was mold, leaves, grass clippings and whatever dust was in it. Nasty looking.
The smell in the cabin certainly went away.

I’m getting a musty smell is why I looked in to it. The condenser is covered in a nasty dirt brown sludge. I hear there is an aerosol that you spray up in the drain hose. It foams up and cleans the coil. Just curios as to why there is not a filter when earlier and later trucks have them?

It's an option on some models.

Are you sure someone didn't throw a fish in your back seat?
