I currently have a complete Daniel Defense DDM4V7 as my primary AR15. I also have two complete lowers. One is a BCM and the other an LMT. I've been given the green light to purchase a complete upper for one of these lowers. I love my DD and Western Sports has a decent price on a complete upper V7 and they also happen to be in stock. Last week they had 15 in stock now they have 6. I'm really leaning to getting this V7 upper. If I do, what lower to put on. The BCM or LMT. I don't care for any of the LMT uppers and the BCM are very hit and miss on their inventory.

If not this DD V7 do you have a recommendation on any other complete upper? Thanks for the help/.

Wrong time to buy an upper with this insanity of high priced everything gun related.
Back in the day of high gun prices when AR's were running into the thousands of dollars, I browsed lots of forums looking for used parts.
Put together an entire AR for $400. I gave away AR parts a couple years ago.
When prices when low and stabilized replaced the trigger and barrel with upgraded models making it into a great shooter after adding good glass.
Does your upgrade require commiefornika compliant additions?

Would you explain why you don't care for the LMT uppers? From what I been reading they are in the top tier of AR 15 manufacturers. I'm kinda new to the platform and am always willing to learn.

Bigred - I'm also only 3-4 years into owning an AR myself so not an expert by any stretch. My only reasoning is that the uppers they have with the handguards prefer don't come with a barrel and are not exactly cheap either considering I'd still need to buy a quality barrel. I'm sure they are a very quality product but I'm looking to buy a complete upper out of the box at this time. The Daniel Defense give me that with a quality complete upper.

Dennis - Through Western Sports the prices have not gone up much at all. I know I procrastinated so the same complete upper is about $100 more today than last year for the V7 model. My fault for not getting on it then. With my third lower i will probably do what you suggest and build it over time as a learning process. And yes, it would need to be CA compliant. I want it to have it as a "just in case" but probably wouldn't shoot it until we moved to OK in 12-18 months. If i keep the uppers and lowers separated in my safe I don't have to have them compliant.

I have several buddies that I also work with that are far more knowledgeable about AR's that myself and they all told me to also look at LaRue, BCM, Geiselle and a few others. I've spend a lot of time on all these websites and a few others and the inventory is basically zero on any of the uppers that interest me. Since I already have a complete DDM4V7 and Western Sports had a complete upper of a V7 and inventory depleting rapidly made the purchase and picked one up and will stick it on my LMT. I'll put a Surefire Socom Muzzle Brake on it with Troy Folding Iron Sites. Will have to decide on Red Dot. Currently have a Aimpiont T2 and like it but may look at something else. Not sure. Excited to get it in a week or so.

She came in today. Excite to finally have a second AR if it was needed. Got the V7 in the mail. Very quick shipping.

So that's what a $1400 upper looks like.

Do you have to use those funky looking California lowers?View attachment 170555

More like $1070.00 and the quality is top notch. For the price and availability it was by far the best option around. I also didn't want to necessarily put $400 upper on one of my LMT or BCM lowers. Being in CA choose to not register my ARs as AWs with the state so I made my first one CA compliant in stead. Non-Collapsible buttstock, Brake rather than a flash hider and a Fin put on my pistol grip. Probably won't do any of that to this setup other than the Brake which I really like compared to the flash hider.
