Not knowing anything about "cans" other than they don't work on revolvers, is there a theory about silencing the report using the noise cancelling or destructive interference that headphones use? Can you turn the report in on itself or is it just the muffling of the sound using baffles?

They don’t work on revolvers because of the cylinder gap. The suppressors have baffles that redirect the gasses and sound to absorb the noise. Subsonic ammo is sometimes needed depending on the design.

Right, you're never going to get that "Hollywood" quiet (unless it's a bolt action .22 or .300 blk with proper ammo) because there is the sound of the action, the supersonic crack of the bullet itself... The purpose of suppressors is to disrupt the gas flow through shearing and laminar flow to mitigate the sound from the expanding gas.

You can buy all the parts before you file/receive your Form 1, you just can't drill anything out until you have the approved stamp. Once you have it, you can finish out all the work to make your suppressor. I'll try to take some more pictures later to show more of the components I'm going to be using. All of mine will be designed for supersonic use, with occasional subsonic use knowing that it won't be as effective as a true sub can. Maybe in the future I'll build a dedicated sub can, but for now I'm not too worried about it.

Yup, baffles. However, until that stamp is approved and you're able to bore them, they're just solid cups for catching solvent and cleaning media

I think the closest you'll get to anything going that direction would be the cans from OSS. Or I might have completely misunderstood what you meant :-)
