I watched the video too. It was a horrendous thing to watch. It did stop too soon. I'm sure there is more footage from the dashcam after the shooting of the guy but it cuts off right after the sgt gets shot and is dying on the road.

I watched it. Sarge talks and talks before hitting guy with taser. Guy talks and talks, doesn't want to get out of the car, pleads to just go home. When they finally move on the guy, it seems like a half-hearted attempt, maybe new cop is trying to be gentle?
Guy starts shooting, does indeed shoot the cop on the ground, hardly a thought-out execution, IMHO.

Was he standing?

Yes, did you watch the video?

Nope. I'll take your word for it, just pointing out a bit of what seems to be semantics.

Still pretty damn sad that this all happened over a traffic violation. Ware decided that going to jail wasn't an option. Cops decided that backing off wasn't an option. Was any of it worth it?

Monday morning quarterbacking is always 100% right, are you relaying that something should be done differently in the future?

It shows the citizens exactly how this went down, how it escalated.

It shows how fast the situation changed.

It started with a traffic citation and no insurance. It was escalated by the driver. Why don't people understand this stuff?

Like a woman goes shoplifting and ends up getting shot. I guarantee it was NOT over shoplifting that she was shot.

When you are given an order by a cop numerous times and continue to ignore it explaining you don't have to do what they say... When you are resisting with force the cop's lawfully attempting to take you into custody...
When you are tazed and sprayed with OC and are still resisting...
When two cops are hands on trying to take you into custody and you decide to pull a gun and kill them...
Yes, all over a traffic ticket.

I gar-on-tee you things will be done different by any cop that watches the video. They tell Ware 40 times to get out of the car.

Hell if my dad had to tell me something twice, he'd use more force than young cop did.

Sarge kept threatening to use that taser over and over and over.

It seems that the cops decided early on they were gonna haul this retard to jail. They stood there debating it with him like a liberal parent threatening to put a kid in time out.

Interesting.

So you suggest use of more force? Granted I don't disagree.... but wouldn't you be one of the first ones cryin about "Jack Booted Thugs" if things went differently?

IF the police decided to remove citizen from car, remove him. Don't stand there and talk about it, don't halfway grab the guy, do what you decide to do. Or - let the guy go home. Either choice would be better than this, wouldn't you agree?

The officers decided early on that they should haul this guy in, seize his property, all over a tag and license. You can expound on the merits of tax collection all day long, but that's ultimately what this was about. Ware didn't want to go back to jail. Ware didn't want to lose his car. Officers felt that it was their duty to force these things upon him. He resisted, won the fight. Now everyone is screwed.
