Does the metal heat the soil up to much during the summer months? Wife is afraid of roasted veggies before we get them picked. :P

Each of our beds performed well, the 1st and small bed grew lots of onions, the 2nd bed houses the asparagus and it grew well, beds 3 & 4 are STILL growing tomatoes, bed 5 didn't get cared for but grew big lambs quarter and Johnson grass.. As time permits I'll build 12 more for 15 beds.. The area that has the beds and greenhouse will be affectionally known as our food forest.. We'll be adding trees and bushes of food items.. If it materializes into what we dream of it'll have a wide array of fruits and veggies.. The plant pictured didn't net us very many as it was the 1st year but they sure was sweet and yummy.. So much so that I ordered more cuttings of a different variety..

My fig tree is about 3-4 years old. It is COVERED. I have trouble getting the handfuls of figs into the house. Haven't actually made anything with them yet. Cuz they are typically gone by the time I pick again the next day. Lol There is NOTHING better than fresh figs -- ants and all. Except for maybe fresh blackberries ... Haha!

When I was a kid, Mom would make fig jelly --- she put strawberry jello in it for some reason! Oh my!! It was even better when you put it on some vanilla ice cream!

Like crack. I swear I can't NOT eat them if they are ripe. And I can't eat just one. More like one at a time! Lol

They are so good you are HARD pressed to make it in the house with'em.. The 1st one I brought in for the wife to taste was bitten 1st.. It created some good amusment..
