Your other option is to buy Husky or Kobalt on sale this week on a black Friday deal. Both Home Depot or Lowes are good about warranty from what I have heard from folks that use them. Or you could try the hi-point of tools ICON from Harbor Freight and let us know if its tool truck quality.

I'm not sure why they'd say that. They have a lot of pure Chinesium, but that's not all they have. I'm pretty sure they carry Klein Tools, which are American made, and I have a pair Irwin Vise Grips lineman's pliers that I bought there a two years ago that is pretty clearly stamped "Made In Germany" (they're actually sitting on the end table next to me now). I'm pretty sure I saw SK tools in the locked glass wall cases, too.

I agree. Nothing to loose, go wander into Steve's and look for yourself. In OKC the far south store has, or at least had, the best tools locked up in a glass case.

The beef I have with the truck brands is warrantying them. All my tools are for personal home use but if I have to warranty one, its a major PITA to find a truck nearby and wait for the warranty to go through if they dont have what you need. I've had to warranty two Snap On items and the hunt was on to find a place where the truck would be and you almost feel like youre conning the guy into doing a warranty. That being said, almost all my ratchets are Snap On. They are amazing!

I *think* you can send a broke tool to Snapon directly (Kenosha?) and they will ship a replacement back to you. I don't have time right now to research that for you, you might check their website and/or call them on Monday.

Good luck to you.

You can send them for repair. What I always did was the guy I used years ago always stopped by a buddy's shop. So the rare occasion I needed a repair I would leave stuff there or meet up with him on Mondays when his route went through there. Otherwise flag one down get his card and just call him and ask when he is in your area. My problem isn't finding them for warranty its getting out of their truck before I am in the poor house.

Snap On ratchets break all the time, but they are nicer than most. The quality of their tools has gone downhill over the past decade. I give my broken Snap On tools to a friend who has a truck come by his shop once a week in order to get them warrantied out.

I buy Blue Point for bang for the buck quality and Pittsburgh(Harbor Freight) for inexpensiveness and I don't feel bad when I lose them. Klein and Knipix are great for pliers. I wouldn't dream of using Craftsman for sockets- those are just as bad as the made in Taiwan junk. I also buy Snap On tool sets on eBay- just figure out what you want and find an auction that ends at an odd hour and you may get a deal.

I guess it was my luck...when I called them, they directed me towards their dealer locator to find a local truck for the warranty. I ended up having to give it to a friend who had a friend who had the truck stop by and go that route.

I have a full size MAC Racing toolbox stuffed full of MAC and Snap-On tools. I will make you a deal on them. They will not be cheap but I will make a deal. Everything is new/like new condition, nothing is rusty or crusty. PM for contact info and pics.

I don't know about Steve's Tools but a lot of stores and restaurants seem to be filling their customer service jobs with whoever they can get, "in these unprecedented times" of Rona. Maybe they didn't know the company sells non-China stuff? :anyone:
