A Murphy bed is a fold up bed into a piece of furniture or a closet.

Wifey wants a Murphy bed in the back bedroom now.
Either I buy a kit with the struts and make one or I go buy one.

If you're handy, definitely buy the kit. I looked for one for a long time, they are crazy expensive as whole units. After looking at $4000 models made with particle board, I decided that $300 kit didn't seem so ridiculously expensive.

Been looking a long time. Wifey can't make up her mind on the trimmings ( architecture style) of the bed surround. Wanted to get ahead of the hurry up and get it done that's coming next. She can't even decide on a size yet.

I looked at those Lori beds a while ago. No hinges, so you just roll it out of the frame. Not a bad way to go if you don't mind the "legs" sticking out all the time.

Can't help you but the thread got my attention. Few years ago was helping clean out an old building down town Tulsa. Had about 20 original metal frame Murphy beds in the basement. I snagged one before they went to the scrap yard and it is in a middle bed room. Has the original Murphy metal tag and Shure makes a room multi purpose. Wished I had snagged a few more but wasn't thinking.

I've been researching them. Looking at all the non frame options which would be easy to make. Wifey wants one with the struts though. I want something I can make into something nice. I'm thinking about just using two Lazy Suzans I already have for the axle and some hood struts for the lift assist. She just has to decide which one.
