Blue Jays and Red Birds

The blue jays will take over the feeders then the Red Birds will come and eat. Neither at the same time. The Red birds will have tons of other birds join them but not so much with the BJ but they don't chase them away. Wife is going through more bags of bird feed than I did cattle feed when I had a small cow/calf operation. Ha.
They are beautiful. My phone just takes bad pictures. Took this from my back door. BJ is eating some of the bread crumbs my wife also puts out.

It's the same at our feeders. We don't get too many blue jays but, red birds are on the feeders nonstop. Long tail tree rats eat their share too.

Those are blue jays, although blue they aren't the bluebird. Blue Jays are a little more aggressive.

I have red birds, bluejays and dove eating at same time. Wrens and sparrows give the bluejays there space.

Could be several birds - I see finches and wrens at my feeder. The females are brown like house sparrows. Female Juncos are also gray / brown. I’ve got a bunch of Juncos at the feeder everyday.

Could be a wren, finch, or another sub species of the sparrow.

Long tail tree rats eat their share too.

I quit feeding the birds because the tree rats were eating so much of it they were getting fat. There was one particular fat bastard that would hang on the feeder until he'd dumped all the seed out on the ground, so the birds weren't getting jack.

Our feeder gets a lot of action but no problems with the squirrels. They can not climb the pole I guess but they do help clean up the ground around it. We get mostly sparrows, wrens, a few red birds and jays. Also have a couple of doves every now and then.

I had to move the feeder closer to our Redbud tree for the small birds to take shelter in. Had a hawk that liked picking off the smaller birds at times.
