Played fetch with Jax some and worked on his fence scaling abilities. The pipe top allows him to cheat and put his feet on the pipe. Going to have to find some without top rail as he can sail over 4' fence when asked to.
She’s a fantastic hunting dog, but is also content being in the house hanging out with my 3 year old. Also she loves riding in the back seat of the truck when I’m working, So that’s the best of both worlds for me!Ha! Chaz that is how I feel. Gotta keep punching...
How about a short stretch of PVC "fence" to train with? You could make it adjustable height (or possibly stackable sections?) and gradually raise it higher to push his skill level.Played fetch with Jax some and worked on his fence scaling abilities. He is smart enough if an end is near, he will go around it. Otherwise that might work. How about a short stretch of PVC "fence" to train with? You could make it adjustable height (or possibly stackable sections?) and gradually raise it higher to push his skill level.
Just a thought.
I’d like to say he gets a lot of practice in the offseason, but that’d be a lie. He sleeps, chases the other one, plays with the kids, and just turns into a couch potato. But when you put his hunting collar on he becomes a different animal.
He does get plenty of retrieving from the pool. Sometimes a bumper, sometimes a pool float, sometimes the damned pool vacuum or a kid. He’s not particular. View attachment 166666

There's no way anyone can say that this dog isn't smiling.
That will be fun.View attachment 188028
While I do wish that I got to meet the girlfriends weenie dog 10 years ago back when I could have taken her hunting, I am pretty sure the only hunting dog in the picture is the girlfriends new Golden Retriever. She’s wanting to train him to be a therapy dog to help with her practice. I just might train him to sniff/retrieve squirrels or find sheds so he can have something a little less work like on his off time.
