I was given this box of ammo from my Dad and was wondering what it might be worth. The ammo has never been out of the box (the tab came open when I picked it up). If I had a .45 revolver I would try to display them together somehow. Just curious about what it might be worth and possibly where to sell it

Thanks

Notice the toss them immediately into water after firing and brush them out.

Makes me think this may be loaded with Black Powder.
Then I researched and found this.
States smokeless powder was used and cartridge OAL was 1.575" which is longer than the
specs for the Schofield at 1.430"
Read this on the specs of the 1909

I am curious as to what the case looks like and measurements.

Need to know what it is exactly in order to sell it would be the best way.

I have no idea nothing I own is worth any value.
I like to use old things and enjoy them ..To me that is more value than money that will be frittered away.
I drive the snot out of all my old cars.
I use old fishing lures and shoot old guns from the 1880's

I suppose if you are looking for money then get on gunbroker and see what stuff like that sells for.

If you are looking to sell it to someone here we need to know exactly what it is and it may be all green and corroded.
and just plain junk.
Maybe a Colt Forum would have answers.
I say 50-100 bucks but I know nothing. And I would shoot them.
Probably reload the cases and shoot them over and over :)

What a cool find!
I wouldn't remove them from the box or disturb them any further if you want to sell them as a collectors item. The box may be worth more than the ammo.
Just google ammocollectors.com and several forums will appear in the search. They deal in antique ammo daily and might be another resource if OSA doesn't resolve your questions.

If I remove them from the box won’t that de-value them?
From the pictures and your description, it looks like the box is already open. I would take them out and inspect them.

That's a pretty cool reference you found. I kept reading expecting it to just say the name of the cartridge but it didn't. It's interesting to read the detailed information on bullet drift due to rifling and how to calculate the max ordinate. Good stuff.
