Closest I ever came was a Star BM that I liked, does that count?

Seriously I would trade my S&W Shield for a good small 1911 in 9mm. Even a Star BKM if it came with a couple extra mags. I just can not get use to striker fired and I carried an old Mab model D for a while many years ago.

Never even fired a 1911. However...

Probably 99+% of ALL semi-auto failures I've had were due to mag feed lips not being properly adjusted. Spacing, angle, and height are all critical.

You're probably correct that a good portion of semi-auto FTF's are magazine-related. However, a good gunsmith told me that mine was due to some amateur working on it.

I like the Ruger light weight commander in 9mm.
Have not shot the Springfield Ronin but I've seen one and it had a plastic trigger.
For some reason I expect a plastic trigger in a Glock, etc but don't want to see one in a 1911.
Guess I'm a hypocrite.

I had a Star BM when they were cheap police trade ins from Spain and I liked it also.
Never saw the "Starlite" alloy version (was the BKM, I think) but now that I'm a geezer the lighter weight would be nice.

I threw up in my mouth a little just reading that....
