So I had an interesting idea. I was wondering if I could find all of the major parts manufactured by Oklahoma based companies.

A4 style Upper, 20" barrel in 223 wylde with flash hider, A2 stock and handguard, and as many other parts and pieces as possible.

I've done some Googling, but must not be looking in the right spots yet.

many or most lower parts kits will be fine, however, may as well start with a nicer trigger group, I suggest the MBT by larue, they have variants, mine is a two stage that final break is about 2.5lb, in other words, when I think about sending it, it does :)

I was just thinking about a 20" and rifle length gas and handguard. I'm really thinking about eventually making it into something of a "Retro Rifle" like the A1 or A2 style.

And yes, I think I'll go with a .223 Wylde barrel. After doing some reading, the 762x39 really does sound quite problematic.
It gets a little more complicated with those because of the feed ramps. Rifle and M4 feed ramps are different, so if your receiver has rifle ramps you have to have a barrel to match.

Again, though, you have to figure out what your purpose is for it. That receiver you got isn't correct for a clone build, strictly speaking, so it just kind of depends on what your expectations are.

Honestly, just for fun. Not looking for a clone in the strictest sense. Just in the A2/A4 style...

The "Retro-ish" is definitely my favorite build to date.
