I needed a pair of flat bit tongs so I made some. They’re ugly as a hat full of ass, but considering they’re the first pair I have ever made they worked out okay. They work too!
They look pretty good to me. A darn sight better than any attempt by me!
Other than the one drunken handle, they look pretty good... 
No, it is wood, many mistakes. For small areas one has to use a toothpick and sandpaper
Is it basswood? Did you paint or stain it?

Took some milsurp shovels I have had laying around for 3 or 4 years and made homemade angry beaver shovels aka murder sporks. I've got 10-15 dollars into them. I gave two of them to some buddies. They need to be sanded, painted, and the handles sealed.
They are not perfect, but they beat 80$ for the name brand.
