I like the look of both these rifles and was wondering what the difference between the two really are. I am new to rifles and I like the looks of these rifles over the "big scary black guns" all plastic looking these are more appealing. Would y'all help me with a pros and cons list?
Collected mosins for a few yrs. Sold 26 of them to one person at the Wannamaker and kept only 2. Have owned mausers too
What are your intentions with these? Value wise, mausers have held their value quite well. Mosins may get there someday.
As for shooting them, ammo costs a little less for mosins but not that much any more.
As far as sporterizing them there are far more parts out there for customizing mausers than mosins

Generally a Mauser is a much better rifle than a Mosin and the price usually reflects that.
In my experience mosins are fun if you like getting kicked by a mule, shooting fireballs, and tinkering. Some of them are great shooters, some of them are lucky to hit the broad side of a barn. For the price, it’s worth owning one though.
If my memory serves me a Mosin sniper model once held the 1000yd record. There is enough barrel for days to utilize if you can find one that is not shot out. If you just want an action to customize a Mauser is tops as that clip will rip the back off a stuck case if you could pull it. I seem to remember there are years to stay away from in an 8MM as when Germany was collapsing they were building these things in all kinds of occupied countries and the last ones quality was suspect to the point of unsafe without being checked.
Just some info as I am not much of a Milsurp guy myself and prefer to buy mine already sporterized so to speak. But they are a good way to get a cheap shooter if you have a good bore light and can get a good one.I have always wanted to build a custom off of a Mauser action sometime but I need another project like a hole in the head right now.
With those WWII Mil jobs some of them may have been stored for decades and survived somewhat or you might get one some poor sob dang near melted the barrel down in some trench somewhere trying to stay alive. You just got to take a good look.

You posted here First rifle suggestions | Oklahoma Shooters (okshooters.com) originally and wanted to stay around $600 and have a "military" looking rifle that can shoot 1-1.5moa out to 500 yards. Now you basically posted again seeking input about two different old military bolt action rifles. Forget the accuracy requirement you desire if you seek it in the two rifles on your list. Maybe if you would interact with those who are trying to assist you, you could get what you're looking for. If you want something that goes BANG, and is not scary looking, just pick one. It will meet your needs. With your self exclaimed lack of knowledge in rifles I doubt you can hold 5-7.5 inches at 500 yards but you can get a lot of practice out of either a Mosin/Mauser.
I like the looks of both those. from reading around I thought the Mosin was used a a "sniper" rifle ... Does that not indicate that it is a very accurate shooting rifle at further distances?
Both have been used as "sniper rifles" usually they just found an accurate one and installed a scope on it. Few were really made as sniper rifles. Personally I prefer the Mauser but it is a personal choice.
“Military sniper” accurate and 1 moa accurate are two very different things. In the military you just have to hit “that guy over there in the abdominal area” as opposed to a 1-4 inch box on a target shooting range. Also, most military surplus rifles are very, very used and abused, and in the case of the mosin, are also 80+ years old. Storage and how much abuse a rifle has gone through over those years has a ton of relevance in terms of accuracy and reliability. Also rifles being built during wartime tend to be of worse quality than rifles made during peacetime, because cost savings and speed was much more important than making nice rifles to last a lifetime.
