This is a great question. Myself, I love guns. My first experience was picking up brass with Grandpa. My Dad (love him so much) isn't a "gun guy". Long story short I have all of them because I will take care of them (guns).

The last firearm I would ever sell is my grandfather’s shotgun. It’s not valuable, a JC Higgins pump 12 gauge. It’s been rode hard and put up wet. My grandfather fought with his demons most of his life. He rarely held on to anything for long, but that shotgun stayed with him until his death. It will stay with me until my death.

Somewhat along those lines...I got 3 consecutive Seekins lowers and put our Family crest on each and me and my 2 boys initials on each. Makes a good “forever” piece as they only need to keep lower as an “heirloom” but can use it for anything from their first .22 to a full blown 5.56 or .300

Wow! Would you mind sending me the information on where you had that done?

Well... thanks. I have a couple of vintage firearms I'd like to have something done like that to leave to my grandkid(s).

They are special enough to always keep because of the stories behind them. I have my Great Uncle Orville Kirk’s Colt 1903 that he carried every day as a cabbie in Sacramento, California in the original holster that felt like a lump of leather when my father handed it to me. He bought from him for protection when we drove “home” to Oklahoma after my dad served 20 years in the Navy.

I also have my dads .410 that he claims never hit anything he aimed it at. Who doesn’t love guns with stories?

Dad was a WWII Pacific Theater Okinawa, Saipan, Philippines war vet. He had a Japanese Nambu he never would say how he got it and a 22 single shot Remington and a Harrington and Richardson Model 165 LEATHERNECK. He never talked about the war and what he did. He liked guns but hated killing. Killing anything, even a rabbit or a quail or a duck. He never went hunting with me. When I was with him we shot cans and boards and other targets. When I was in high school I bought a $75 farm auction Western Field 12 gauge pump. I took many a bird with that gun. If I could have kept it it would have been with my 22's as an heirloom.
