Years ago, you could buy cartridges with a laser that would chamber in your regular firearm. No idea if they're still available or not.

FWIW, there was no simulated recoil.
:drunk2:

I have one of those cartridges and the 6" circle target that will "Register" the hit location when the laser is fired. It's a good tool to work on the draw and 1st shot, BUT, there is no recoil and You Have To Reset The Trigger Manually, so it is useless for multiple shots.

Yep, probably a pain in a semi-auto with no external hammer.

IIRC, the ads generally showed them with a revolver. But it's been a while.

Yes, just not conducive to multiple shots. I never saw an add, I saw it at a gun shop and thought it would be a good tool for dryfire. It worked well for the first shot but gets old having to rack the slide for the next shot.

We called in snapping in, in the 'Old Corps'. Just about every night, I pick a pistol out. I leave the ammo in the other room, and while I watch tv, I practice dry firing. Sometimes I use a nickle, but most times not.
the old lady and I occasionally bust out the revolvers or carry guns and do just this. Usually we are watching a show or movie and pick someone or something to shoot at. Like every red car or the bad guys left eye. Gets practice in on being aware, practicing firearm manipulation, and trigger pull. She went from an iffy trigger pull and difficulty manipulating the slide to running that thing like a pro in a few hours worth of practice. She actually has ended up being a 10x better shot with the revolver than her hellcat using this practice too.

Check out this video.

I really like that warrior poet guy. That system is pretty awesome too.

A guy I know was cleaning his shotgun years ago while watching a John Wayne movie, and did the same thing. Well, more or less...

He was so engrossed in the movie that he didn't realize he'd reloaded the shotgun. So he took aim at a guy that was about to shoot John Wayne...

And blew the small TV out the front window of his mobile home.

IN A TRAILER PARK! :D

man, some things I would pay to see. the ammo is always in the gun room, only time it leaves is if we"re bringing home ammo, going to the range, or going hunting.

That's an advantage of the Taurus G2/G3 series. They are all striker fired pistols with restrike capability.
Argh. Not sure what I was thinkin', as most any DA semi-auto should also work.

Would still be a pain with a PF-9 though... they're actually a "half-cock" (lol, or whatever?) more/less DA design. Easy DA trigger, but you have to pull the slide a bit to half-cock the trigger on a misfire.

Please don't hold the terminology used against me. And I'm using the word "terminology" rather loosely... :D
