Are the holes in the slide they mount the rear optic plate cover with threaded?

I'm a bit confused here as I'm assuming the threads on the optic plate are threaded since the screws come in from the bottom.

But videos of installing an optic show people running the screws through the optic into the slide, which means the slide is threaded.

Factory having the slide and plate threaded seems odd to from a manufacturing standpoint of getting both threads to line up without binding and causing irregularity...

Sig attaches the rear sight and plate from the bottom. It uses the Shield RMSc footprint screw pattern which most all micro reddots use.

The plate isn't threaded, just the rear sight.

Man I'm still confused then.

I bought a XL the other day and a 507k today.

Screws from the bottom of the slide hold the sight/plate on, Sig says 5/64 and they immediately rounded out the allen screw. So now, I'm trying to figure out the stackup on these things. I dropped it off at a local gunsmith today to have the screws extracted but I'd like to know whats what.

Install of a 507K is supposed to be direct on and the screws come in from the top, so what are they threading into if the slide has thru holes?

Just found this pic online and it appears to have threaded inserts of some sort. If so, I still say its odd to have threaded portions on the slide and the sights...getting both "in time" with the threads seems pretty risky without a really complex procedure.

Mine were rounded too. I used an easy out and called Sig. Some tard used red loctite on the screws. They told me they have had a few complaints and are shipping me new screws.

Pull the slide and remove the RSA and barrel. Remove these two screws

The optic screws mount from the top. The raised lugs where the screws insert act as indexing lugs and help with recoil impulse

Drop the optic on and place the screws in

Torque to 15 inch pounds and you're set. The optic will be your rear sight now
