Well after a huge backlash this game is back on. Nebraska AD just released a statement....

Hours after a report Nebraska was considering changing it's 2021 schedule in regards to a trip to Oklahoma to face the Sooners in September, athletic director Bill Moos released a statement saying the Huskers will be facing OU as scheduled.

Here's Moos' statement:

“The University of Nebraska is looking forward to playing Oklahoma in Norman on September 18. Due to the economic devastation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic to Husker Athletics and the local community, our administration did explore the possibility of adding an eighth home game this fall. That option would have helped us mitigate cost-cutting measures and provide a much-needed boost to our local economy. Ultimately, the decision was made to move forward with our game at Oklahoma in 2021. We have the utmost respect for the University of Oklahoma, and this storied rivalry, and I know our fans have been excited about this series for a long time. Go Big Red!”

Some of the greatest games I ever watched was ole Tom's Huskers coming to the palace for their annual butt kicking. Well most of the time. I wished they would have never left but dealing with Texas back then you could understand why.
If they would come back to the now Big 12 it would be better than an out of Conference game. Would certainly be better than watching something like Arkansas Tech getting curb stomped 70-0.

Nebraska vs Ok was a classic match on the Thanksgiving weekend for many years.
Don't know all the particulars but I'd say someone needs to follow the money in this deal.

My fathers godson Andy Means played corner back for the Cornhuskers and I got to meet Tom Osborne along with I.M. Hipp and Jarvis Redwine. This was from 76-80. Nebraska’s weight room facility at that time was the envy of most colleges and several pro facilities. Never seen so many big ass corn fed white boys in my life. Spent many games along the side lines and afterwards in the locker room.
I remember Jarvis Redwine taking it 80 yards around the right side of the Sooners defense for a TD only to have it called back for unsportsmanlike conduct when he high stepped the last 15 yards pointing at the defense. Very next snap of the ball he took it 90 yards to the house on the exact same play. That MoFo had some serious wheels.
