I've been wanting a full size 9mm Glock gen5 or M&P 2.0 for a nightstand/range gun.

I am familiar with both of these platforms as I have owned them before and like them both.

I am seeing the APX now and then with good reviews for under $400.

Tell me why I won't like the APX compared to Glock or M&P other than the weird looking slide.

These are not the firearms you're looking for.

My APX Centurion has the lightest feeling recoil of any of my 9mm's. It's not finicky on ammo. It's the second most accurate 9mm I own, just behind the Mauser P08. The slide does take a little bit of getting used to, however, it's one of my 'keepers'!

Good luck on your decision! On a side note, I'd certainly be willing to come to Shawnee to let you shoot mine.

I like to look ahead to the future a little when purchasing a handgun. Mag availability, parts etc. Beretta changes things out like a women changes shoes. That is what took me so long to get on board with the FN509 wagon.

Nothing negative to say about the APX at all, just thinking out loud on that one.

That is definitely one downside compared to the others. I sure like the pricing though.

I'm not one for changing up my handguns much from factory original so the lack of aftermarket support/accessories is something I'm willing to live with I think.

I haven't looked at mag availability or prices yet.

I am very happy with my APX full size, not a lot of options for night sights but otherwise one of my favorite 9mm pistols. I keep thinking of getting a centurion or compact and stop carrying the Glock 26. I try and buy spare magazines when they are on sale.
