I'm jealous, that looks great! I'm not going to be able to put in a garden this year or do much at all until I get some health issues behind me. It's absolutely KILLING me not to be able to make it to the orchard to see my babies blooming, but some very kind neighbors took a few shots for me.

We've been getting some asparagus also. I'm going to have to expand. I used an old molasses cow feeder bottom to make a container for mine. It just doesn't produce enough and dries out through the summer heat.

Going to be planting a couple of 15 gallon tubes as container gardens this year. About all I can handle at this time.

Last fall my sister gave me a few wild onions. I planted a few in a bucket and the rest under my Redbud where I have a hard time getting grass to grow. The onions in the bucket are doing OK but the ones under the Redbud are going wild. I may try planting a few herbs in buckets too.

Those are 5 yo crowns now so they are good size roots.. We'll snag a dinner mid week as well.. Doing lots of cattle panel growing this year.. 1 run of 6 panels, 300" will have a slew of pole beans, noodle beans, cucumbers and what ever else will attach like melons.. There's 2 cattle panels running from 2 beds that will support the maters.. Underneath the maters will be the array of peppers.. Big grow year planned, hopefully it does as well as last year..

Absolutely love the Jersey Giant over the Mary Washington. My asparagus patch is 70' long and 4' wide between railroad ties and is 30 years old. Keeps producing year after year with amounts so large that we donate bags of them to the local Senior Citizen center lunch program every year. We just can't eat it all.
Our patch was about 10" deep in leaves that blew in there over the winter so it got burned yesterday. The heat put into the soil should get them popping out of the ground pretty soon. I think the leaf litter kept the sun from warming the soil. Buddy a mile North got three spears popping out this morning. His are Jersey Giants.

I don't think your supposed to pick past June 1. We are pretty tired of it by then anyway, but can't wait for the new season after months of not having any. The stuff that appears in the stores looks pretty sad.

Plant some "bunching onions" in a container. They are like green onions with bigger tops. Taste the same.
They put on a "cap" underground that the shoots come out from. They are not individual plants. At harvest, you break them off the cap.
Mine and a buddy that have them in containers lost them during the -16 degree spell, but they are coming back. Typically they stay green all winter for picking.
I don't think you can kill them. LOL
Edit, they don't need to be replanted every year. The "cap" underground puts up the onions for many years as an annual.
