Did some fishing yesterday down by the docks and caught a few crappie. It's still a little to early here on Grand for the crappie unless your in deep brush. But they will be moving in to the shallow in a few weeks.
I find this transition time between when the crappie are in deep structure and moving to the beds the hardest time to find them.

They suspend in water following shad schools to feed up before spawn.

I went out Bixhoma for few minutes this morning, it was a little windy and cool but I managed to catch a couple of dinks on an ultralight...

Lost another bigger bass because his head got stuck between limbsnext to a beaver dam I was jigging through and he would'nt fit. Then the crappie jig came out and ended up in the tree above me. Got mad and when home. I was tired anyway. Ha

I went out again yesterday and caught about 14 of these little rascals using a 3" Fire Tiger and 3" Watermelon Seed worm on the Tenkara rod, great fun!

Instead of using a traditional Tenkara fly line I tried using 14ft of my low vis 6lb Trilene. I tied a surgeon`s knot on the end that connects to the Lillian and then tied on a de-barbed #8 Mustad with a Palomar knot.

About 2:30 yesterday afternoon it quit raining, the sun popped out and the wind register 0 so I jump up and headed out to Haskell lake, 15 minutes later at Haskell lake it`s cloudy and the wind is howling but I managed to catch one nice Gill and probably the smallest Bass I ever caught...

Take a long shank trot=line style hook.

Just cut a simple piece of black foam copper pipe insulation about 1/2"-3/4 wide and about 2 1/2-3 inch long and tie it to the hook by wrapping black fly thread around it in about 3 spots to mildly resemble a head, thorax and a tail. optional couple rubber bands for legs

find some weeds or big stumps or roots and thank me later.

Can someone in the Kay County area that knows,
Point me in the right direction on Lake Ponca where I can catch some crappie.
The 2 spots I have tried several times so far I haven't got a single bite.

I don't have a boat, so I'm fishing from the banks.

Any info is appreciated. Thanks
