Our flock at the lease has been nowhere to be seen since early Feb. We had pics daily of them all fall and winter. At times as many as 30 hens and jakes in one group plus a small bachelor group of 4 or 5 toms. I went down to fish, shed hunt, put out mineral licks, etc.. and hopefully find where they've gone. No such luck.
I guess we'll see here in a couple weeks.

Is this the first year you've leased it? Almost all the flocks up here have different fall and spring areas.

Yes, first year on this lease. I had a bad feeling they might disappear at the wrong time, but I was holding out hope. I might give it a shot sometime opening week, otherwise going to move on to somewhere else.

You're looking in all the wrong places! They're right here in town!

My son went to the lease Monday to look for sign. He saw a group of 4 toms, one with a 9-10 inch beard. Saw another by himself but he was partially in the brush so couldn’t see any details.

I just got back from my ranch in Hughes county....I filled feeders, put out salt blocks and then headed to the back of the property....I saw a flock of at least 15 birds already on the move before I saw them....however, there was one tom that just keep turning his head to look at me....he didn't move so I slowed the RZR down and just went slow....I got within 50 feet of him before he jumped up and ran off and the hen that he was on took off too....1st time I've seen that....I ruined their party.... Heard flocks all around me early this morning when I woke up....Only a few more days until the season starts....
