Can't recall a book.

So there is a book I read a while back, I think it was a James Wesley Rawles book but can't recall for sure. But it was a post society collapse, and the end of the book takes place in the future where two characters dig up a trove of ammo cans filled with loot from the main raiding maurater group. It ends with them going to get ice cream after hitting it rich. It's a weird ending, but that book has been on my mind lately and I think I want to re-read it. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Was it one maybe one of the Patriot: A Novel of the Coming Global Collapse series?

Just finished it last week. There are three - four books in the series.
The Founders is the one you are remembering.

Awesome, thank you, I was fairly certain it was a Rawles book. I've been getting after the A. American series for a while and wanted to circle back to this one. I have it packed away in the garage somewhere, I just have to go hunt it down. Thank you for the reminder and offer to loan me the book.

Yeah with the recent change in presidency it seemed like a relevant series to circle back to. What is the A. American series?

I really liked his early books in the series, but expatriates and especially liberators were far to preachy and a super stretch for my imagination. I kind of got turned off by those last two.

The survivalist series. Starts with going home, then surviving home, escaping home, forsaking home, etc. There are 10 books in the series, and 3 or 4 spin off books called hope and charlie's requiem. A good series that takes place of a guy getting home and living life after EMP.
