Here is a 1990 Colt Sporter Target rifle Model R6551 with box, inner sleeve, manual, 2-20rd and 1-30rd factory mags, factory cleaning kit with no sear block that I sold last month for $2000.00. I purchased the rifle and never fired it....it was a safe queen. I loved getting it out and looking at it. I miss it...!!!

In this case I would say Google is your friend. There are a dozen AR manufacturers around now. Colt is the most expensive because of the name and reputation. If you are getting into ARs you might look at a cheaper alternative to decide of the platform is right for you. Right now ammo is hard to get at a decent price. You have to feed the thing.

So here is the deal I don't much about the colt AR line just try to get a bit of info about prices, history and such.
The best buy on a Colt at this time is the new 6920 that you can pickup for around $1200.00....the older LE serial #'d 6920's can go from $1400.00 to $1750.00. If you look you might be able to find a well used 6920 in good shape for $900.00 to $1000.00

I wouldn't buy anything from Colt's old commercial line. They outsourced it, so it's not really Colt. I also wouldn't buy anything Colt that's more than about ten years old, as they've made some pretty big improvements since that time, namely in regard to bolts and extractors on shorter barrels. I would be looking for an LE6920.

Even at current prices, Colt might be a decent buy. They were just acquired by CZ, and it's no telling what's going to happen. But anytime an independent manufacturer gets bought out by a major holding company, the pre acquisition guns tend to go up in value, because almost 100% of the time quality suffers horribly post acquisition. Now CZ is a standup outfit, but that doesn't mean the old ones won't go up in value even if quality doesn't go down, just because of the perceptions that are so ingrained when it comes to these kinds of acquisitions. Not only that, but CZ didn't buy Colt to keep doing what it's doing. Most likely they bought it to leverage the roll mark on some shiny new free floated monstrosity that the commercial market always flocks to like flies to dog poo.

Sorry should stated this isn't my first AR. That being said i've had this particular colt for a long time I have to post tomorrow model and all I was trying to get a price on it. I believe it was during the Clinton ban era. I'll post pictures tomorrow.

A few states still recognize pre ban ARs. Might be worth a small fortune on Gunbroker.
