Even after fixing harbor freight tools, they still kinda suck.

My friend got one of those tire changers and I almost got one and seen the price and thought BS
I have stuff in the back yard i will make my own.
I made it with a twist on top also and then thought WHY would I want to lift the tire up that high.

So i made mine where you set the tire on the steel platform and break the bead.
The steel plate on the bottom is wide and long enough you can stick the far end under a car tire or trailer tire to hold it down
keep it from tipping over when you apply pressure to break the bead.
Angle iron for the struts never bent this one and have removed some rusted on tires with it.

Notice the holes.... It's adjustable for tiny to very large 48" swampers.

I used a bumper jack for many years to break tire beads.
Newer tires are soft sidewall and do not respond well to being driven over they just fold up.

You can take a 2X6 or 8 long board and lay it up on the side of the tire and drive your other vehicle up the board and break the bead. Sometimes.

First, I want to say watch out for that jack; she's getting some precious cargo in a good spot to get whacked in a couple of those pictures. I've used several of those on my dad's farm (just used one to break a bead loose for him on Sunday, as a matter of fact), and every last one of them has tried to hurt me at some point. (It doesn't take long for you to figure out that you shouldn't have your hand on the main beam the jack "walks" up while you're jacking it. Luckily, it didn't break my hand...)

More importantly, that is an awesome project. I learned a heck of a lot working on projects like that with my dad.
